As I sipped a glass of one of my favourite red wines last night, I thought how great it would be, if I could go back to the same place where I originally got this bottle.
You wouldn't think so, but Canada makes great wines. In fact, this wine I'm talking about is from Nova Scotia (Jost Vineyards). This particular bottle was about 9 years old. Yes, was ...
I should have bought more. I also bought a bottle of Canadian Port (imagine that).
I'll let you know what it tastes like one of these days. :)
Before that, I had a great Merlot from Ontario....
(Trying to buy more 'local' food and wines ...
...so you have to taste a lot before you can decide what you like best...) ;)
From May 4th to May 9th, you can enjoy some of our great wines and gourmet food, during the Wine & Food Festival (at various locations throughout the City).
You can salute Ontario's finest, at the Hart House (University of Toronto), on May 8th, from 7 to 10 p.m - farmer's market; try delicious cheeses and produce, and try the BBQ; and of course, all accompanied by Ontario's finest wines.
You can travel the Hall afterwards, to sample the International Wines from each of the Festival's 2009 Wine Regions.
Think local. Have fun. Try some new wines.
Make more great meals at home (instead of going out to dinner), and learn which wines to serve at your own table, with your own meals. Invite some friends over, and have a great time.
